Southwest Base Competition

Whether your a part of Flight Ops, Airport/Ground Ops, Maintenance/Technical Ops, or even corporate, I encourage you all to help spread awareness about Pediatric Cancer and Warriors with Wings this September by WEARING GOLD! September is Pediatric Cancer awareness month and I am challenging my amazing cohearts to help spread the word and help kids battling cancer experience the freedom of flight! 

My name is Ryan and I am a LAX first officer. 11 years ago on Sept 10, 2015, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the age of 17. I underwent three and a half years of chemotherapy treatment and during that time, I discovered my love for aviation. Two months after I was diagnosed, I took my first intro flight. After struggling with treatments and the feeling that my life had been completely derailed, I finally felt like I had control of my life again when I was given the controls of the plane for the first time! From that point forward, flying became the one thing that I could count on to keep me positive and get me through my three and a half years of treatment. 8 years later, I was blessed in being trusted to be a pilot for Southwest, and as a way to give back, I started a 501c3 non profit called Warriors with Wings. Our mission is to help other kids battling cancer by offering them intro flights, scholarships, and donating flight simulators to children's hospitals across the country so they too can have an escape from the most difficult battle of their lives.

There is no losing team when it comes to helping change the lives of kids battling cancer, but who doesn't love a little friendly competition?! If you'd like to help support our mission at Warriors with Wings, choose your base and lets see which one raises the most by the end of the month! All money raised will go towards funding Warriors with Wings programs for the local children's hospital in the bases specific city.
